Wow, sounds like you are dealing with a lot! I really admire your patient but honest and constructive but realistic approach. I think you are doing an amazing job with these kids.

As a mom of three - a 5 year old and 11 month old twins - I resonate with so much of this. Thank you for sharing it on this way.

I don’t have kids, but am close with people who do. The discussion of ‘how much is too much’ of anything seems relentless, but especially around screens.

There seems a balance between kicking kids outside all day (my childhood) and screen-sitting (my younger cousin’s), since not having technical skills in this era would be a detriment for most folks as they get older. And it’s interesting how much personality plays into how that turns out. One can be an outdoor layabout, or couch potato—depends on their individual drive.

All this to say — good luck. 🫡

Haha. Thanks so much for your thoughts! I, too, am all about balance and love being outdoors. I’m so luckily my kids like hiking, biking, etc. and they do need to know these computer skills to pass their classes.

You are definitely accurate when you mention personality too! It is amazing to me that my younger child can transition off of a screen with no fuss, but my older one has real emotional difficulty/explosions disconnecting. What a ride! 🤪
